Cyd's Christmas Snack

"This recipe comes from my mom's homemade nuts-and-bolts recipe. Not being a huge fan of the mixed ingredients, I chose my favorite one and then spiced it up. Careful, it's addictive! Store in a large paper towel-lined container."

Ingredients :

  • 1 (12 ounce) package crispy corn and rice cereal (such as Crispix®)
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons hot pepper sauce (such as Tabasco®)
  • 2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions :

Prep : 5M Cook : 10M Ready in : 1H6M
  • Preheat oven to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C).
  • Pour cereal into a large roasting pan.
  • Melt butter in a microwave-safe bowl, about 90 seconds. Mix in Worcestershire sauce, hot pepper sauce, Cajun seasoning, onion powder, seasoned salt, and garlic powder. Pour mixture over cereal, coating evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven, tossing every 15 minutes, until crispy, about 1 hour. Let cool.

Notes :

  • Life® cereal or Chex® can be substituted for the Crispix®.
  • Original recipe contains 3 cups Crispix®, 3 cups Cheerios®, 1 cup pretzel sticks, 1 cup cheese stick crackers, and 1 cup peanuts.
